Eagles upset Vikings

BLANCHARDVILLE - After winning the Six Rivers East Conference championship, the Pecatonica baseball team had to knock off conference rival Barneveld to get to a regional final.

Barneveld's Sam Shatrawka went 3-for-5 to help stun the No. 2 seed Vikings 9-6 in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal game Wednesday.

"It just wasn't one of our nights," Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen said. "It's kind of a game of inches. They made the inches plays and we didn't."

Pecatonica senior Drew Schliem went 2-for-2 with a double. Sophomore teammate A.J. Hendrickson started and pitched three innings. He gave up five runs on six hits. Hendrickson struck out two and walked one. Schliem pitched four innings in relief and gave up four runs on four hits. He struck out four and walked four.



Wisconsin Heights 10, Darlington 0

DARLINGTON - Southwest Wisconsin Activities League champion Darlington was no match for Wisconsin Heights as the Vanguards knocked off the Redbirds 10-0 in a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal game Wednesday.

Wisconsin Heights' Sandis Eichorst went 2-for-2 with a double and Josh Schoenemann was 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Vanguards' 12-hit attack.

The Redbirds were limited to just three hits. Darlington senior Jason Singer went 2-for-3.

Singer pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up four earned runs on six hits. The Vanguards put the game away with a five-run fourth.



Williams Bay 11, Albany 1

WILLIAMS BAY - Second-seeded Williams Bay rolled to an 11-1 win over Albany. With the win, Williams Bay advances to play at Argyle in a Division 4 regional championship game Friday.
