Bear strong for Squirt A; U10 girls crush Stoughton

Heath Bear was a busy goaltender for the Monroe Avalanche Squirt A hockey team that skated to two ties and a loss during weekend action.

Bear made 28 saves on Saturday, when the Avalanche posted a 5-5 tie with host Waunakee. Anika Einbeck recorded a hat trick and Tessa Janecke and Alyssa Knauf also lit the lamp for the Avalanche. Joe Wyss, Cade Janecke, Riley Jones, Tessa Janecke and Travis Edmunds had assists.

In Sunday's opener, Edmunds and Tessa Janecke scored goals and Bear made 27 saves as the Avalanche fell 7-2 to host Sauk Prairie.

In the weekend finale, Wyss scored twice and Cade Janecke, Tessa Janecke and Edmunds scored goals as the Avalanche posted a 5-5 tie against Middleton at the University of Wisconsin Shell. Edmunds, Cade Janecke, Alyssa Knauf, Haley Knauf and Wyss had assists and Bear made 26 saves.

U10 Girls

Alyssa Knauf record her second hat trick of the season Sunday and added four assists to power the Monroe Avalanche U10 girls hockey team to a 10-1 victory against Stoughton.

Tessa Janecke and Anika Einbeck each added two goals and three assists while Haley Knauf recorded two goals and two assists, and Emma Ness added a goal and three assists.

Ally Einbeck played in goal.
