MONROE - Monroe Times photographer Anthony Wahl won Best of Show and took home several awards at the 2014 Wisconsin News Photographers Association's annual contest and convention held Friday and Saturday in Madison.

Wahl won second place for WNPA Photographer of the Year.

Wahl placed first and second in the Feature category for his photos, "Faith and Farm" and "Flag Raising," respectively. Wahl also earned first-place finishes in Portrait/Personality ("Farmer's Break") and Feature Picture Story ("Faith, Farm and Perseverance: The Porterfields") and placed third in the Portfolio category.

Thirty-one professional photographers competed in the WNPA contest this year, entering photographs published in 2013.

Wahl received recognition from the National Press Photographer's Association in March for his photo essay, "Farming, Faith and Perseverance," which was awarded second place in the NPPA's Best Published Picture Story (Smaller Markets) category. A photo essay of the Porterfields was published in an October edition of the Times.
