Volunteers honored at Literacy Council meeting

MONROE - The Literacy Council of Green County, Ltd. held its annual meeting and family potluck on March 18.

During the evening, volunteers were honored. There were 1,440 hours of volunteer time invested in 2012, to help others learn the English language.

Spirit Award recipients for 2012 were Klondike Cheese Company and Faviola del Carmen Martinez Duarte. The Spirit Award recognizes those who have been strong advocates of the program.

The Literacy Council of Green County, Ltd. is funded through the United Way of Green County, Inc., the Monroe Fund, and businesses and individuals in the communities served.
