MONROE — After a year of canceled events and an uncertain future, the City of Monroe Common Council approved April 19 various special events that will take place in the coming months.
The Public Safety Committee brought to the council resolutions approving Holly’s Heart and Sole Run, the Green County Fair, Cars on the Square and Main Street Monroe’s Wine Walk.
The July 31 run will be the first of its kind in Monroe, but the fair, Cars on the Square and the Wine Walk are returning to the community following a one-year hiatus.
In other matters, the council:
● Approved a resolution granting “Class B” Liquor and fermented malt beverage license to Luna Maya Mexican Restaurant. The restaurant will be moving from its current location to the former Laughing Trout building at 407 6th Street in Monroe.
● Approved a resolution granting a temporary extension to the license premises for Leisure Lanes to add an outdoor beer garden.
● Approved contracts for 2021 curb and gutter repair, mill and overlay project and water and sewer improvements.
● Approved a resolution accepting a proposal for Ehlers Public Finance Advisors to act as an advisor to the city for the possible creation of TID (tax increment finance district) number 11.
