MONROE - Local author John Jewell's new novel, "The Lure," was published on July 15. A launch party and book-signing is schedule for 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Baumgartner's Cheese Store and Tavern.
Jewell's novel and a Baumgartner's beverage will be available at a reduced rate of $10.
Jewell is the author of several non-fiction books and the newspaper column, "Positive Living." "The Lure" is a tale of the year 2023, when 75-year-old Erik Hanssen is remanded to a government-run euthanasia center. While Erik awaits death, his daughter pursues all avenues to save him, but dreams of Erik's deceased Ojibwe grandfather call him to another path.
