MONROE - Green County Sheriff Randy Roderick encouraged people who plan to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day to celebrate responsibly.
"If you're going to have a drink, drink responsibly," Roderick said. "If you're going to go out, go with a designated driver."
The sheriff's department doesn't plan to have extra officers on duty, he said.
However, the Monroe Police Department, Green County Sheriff's Department, Lafayette County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol are partnering to enforce seatbelt and drunken driving laws through March 21.
The departments' goal is to increase voluntary compliance with Wisconsin's mandatory seatbelt law and to crack down on drunken driving.
The enforcement is part of a $16,000 grant the Monroe Police Department received from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Safety.
