MONROE - The public has a final opportunity to provide comments on antlerless deer harvest quota, permit level and season structure recommendations at the final Green County Deer Advisory Council spring meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Justice Center, lower level, in Monroe. The council will receive public comments before developing final recommendations.

The preliminary recommendations were formed at the March meeting using scientific date and public opinion and are available for review at dnr.wi.gov, keyword "CDAC;" click "Find" and select Green County. In order to maintain the county's deer herd, the council has recommended a harvest quota of 2,000, with 1,750 private land and 250 public land antlerless permits available to hunters.

To develop its final recommendations, the council will consider online and public comments along with professional assessments from the Department of Natural Resources wildlife biologists, foresters and law enforcement. The public may comment at any time before Sunday by contacting a CDAC member. A list is available on the CDAC webpage dnr.wi.gov, keyword "CDAC" or by emailing DNRCDACWebMail@Wisconsin.gov.

Green County's final quota, permit level and season structure recommendations will be presented to the DNR after the April meeting and will then advance to the Natural Resources Board for approval in May. Once approved, the recommendations will take effect for the 2016 deer hunting season. Additional information may be found at dnr.wi.gov.
