MONROE - A Monroe man was arrested Saturday after he attempted to meet an underage girl for sex in Racine County.
Scott A. Nesbitt, 48, is charged with a Class C felony count of second-degree sexual assault of a child, a Class C felony count of use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and a Class D felony count of possession of child pornography.
Nesbitt was arrested after he had a prolonged online conversation with a Racine County Sheriff's investigator posing as a 15-year-old girl since April. The conversations were sexually charged, with Nesbitt reportedly saying "I can't stop thinking about how much I want to corrupt your innocence" at one point.
Nesbitt also described his sexual attraction to middle-school-aged girls.
Nesbitt reportedly made plans to meet the girl on Saturday at a Racine County McDonald's restaurant before driving the girl to an unknown location for sex. However, deputies from the Racine County Sheriff's Department arrested Nesbitt at his would-be rendezvous point.
After Nesbitt's arrest, police executed search warrants on his cell phone and at his Monroe residence. Both searches yielded multiple images of child pornography.
If found guilty of all charges, Nesbitt's maximum possible sentence is 65 years in prison.
