TOWN OF CLARNO - An Illinois man was jailed early Sunday, Oct. 7, after he reportedly fled to south of the state line when a Green County deputy tried to stop him.
Curtis L. Metz, 31, Orangeville, is cited for driving while intoxicated, his fourth offense, fleeing law enforcement, driving with a revoked license and operating left of the center line, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.
A deputy attempted to stop Metz at 2:45 a.m. in the W5600 block of County P.
After he allegedly fled, Metz was apprehended by Stephenson County deputies and jailed in Freeport on warrants. A hold was placed on him for the Green County charges.
Court records indicate Metz was sentenced in Green County by Judge James Beer to 30 days in jail for a December 2007 drunk driving offense, his second.
For Metz's third offense, Judge Beer again sentenced him to 30 days in jail.
A fourth-offense DWI is a felony if, as in Metz's case, it occurs within five years of an earlier offense.
