MONROE - The City of Monroe Utilities Distribution Division will be performing routine maintenance on the collection and distribution system in 2016. This will involve hydrant flushing, valve turning and sewer jetting and televising.

The following are approximate areas and dates that the crews will be in each area doing sewer cleaning and televising:

Eighteenth Avenue going east/6th Street going north: April 4-May 16;

West of 18th Avenue to 14th Avenue/9th Street to 2nd Street: May 16-July 4;

Wisconsin 69 to 11th Avenue/21st Street to 18th Street: July 4-Aug. 15; and

Twenty-sixth Street going south/2nd Street to Wisconsin 69: Aug. 15-Sept. 26

Hydrant flushing will be ongoing from April 1 through Oct. 31.

Customers are reminded that some discoloration may occur in their water. The water is safe and is not harmful to your health. The discoloration is caused by encrusted minerals being flushed from the walls of the mains. The best way to deal with this is to turn on the cold tap and let the water run until it becomes clear. Contact the Monroe Utilities office at 608-329-2483 Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. with any questions.
