MONROE - The U.S. Postal Service has announced the deadlines for sending mail and packages abroad to those serving in the military and diplomatic posts. They are offering a discounted price on the largest priority mail flat rate box. The price includes a per box discount for mail sent to APO/FPO/DPO destinations worldwide.
Priority mail flat rate boxes are available at no cost at local post offices and online at shop.usps.com. Postage, labels and customs forms may be printed online anytime using Click-N-Ship at usps.com/ship.
To ensure timely delivery by Dec. 25, the Postal Service recommends that cards and packages be sent to military APO/FPO/DPO addresses overseas no later than the mailing dates below according to each zip code and type of delivery:
APO/FPO/DPO AE ZIPs 090-092: Priority Mail Express Military Service, where available, should be mailed by Dec. 16. First class mail letters and cards and priority mail should be mailed by Dec. 11. Parcel Airlift Mail should be mailed by Dec. 4, Space Available Mail by Nov. 27 and retail ground by Nov. 6.
APO/FPO/DPO AE ZIPs 093: First class mail letters and cards and priority mail should be mailed by Dec. 4. PAL should be mailed by Dec. 4, SAM by Nov. 27 and retail ground by Nov. 6.
APO/FPO/DPO AE ZIPs 094-098: PMEMS should be mailed by Dec. 16. First class mail letters and cards and priority mail should be mailed by Dec. 11. PAL should be mailed by Dec. 4, SAM by Nov. 27 and retail ground by Nov. 6.
APO/FPO/DPO AA ZIPs 340: PMEMS should be mailed by Dec. 16. First class mail letters and cards and priority mail should be mailed by Dec. 11. PAL should be mailed by Dec. 4, SAM by Nov. 27 and retail ground by Nov. 6.
