William David Wagenhals Tanis, age 58 of Monroe, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the Monroe Hospital. Bill was born January 10, 1958 in Homewood, IL, the son of Peter and June (Johnson) Tanis. He graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School and attended the University of Colorado. Bill and Dina Seelhoff were married on January 28, 1995 in Hinsdale, IL. He worked as a floor manager for the Chicago Board of Options Exchange until moving to Monroe in 2004. While in Monroe, Bill was employed as a cellar master for Roth Case Cheese. Bill loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed camping trips, hiking, traveling, and U.S. history.

He is survived by his wife, Dina Tanis of Monroe; two sons, Kyle Tanis of Monroe, and Ryan Fothergill; three loving sisters, Jan, Nancy, and Martha; four nephews, Andrew, Tim, Jeff, and Eric; and a niece, Lisa.
