Monroe man charged in thefts of tractors

MONROE - Three stolen John Deere tractors were recovered and a suspect arrested this week, after officials received a tip of a tractor's location. A suspect was arrested and charged on charges of theft and burglary.

The suspect in all of the thefts, Mark J. Dieckman, 26, Monroe, has been arrested on charges of three counts of felony theft and one count of burglary. Dieckman remains jailed in the Green County Jail.

At about 1 p.m. Tuesday, the Green County Sheriff's Department received a tip that a stolen John Deere tractor was being towed on a trailer on County M, north of Wisconsin 11.

Deputies found the vehicle on Smock Valley Road in the Town of Jordan. Green County Sheriff Jeff Skatrud the tractor was being towed by an individual who claimed no knowledge that it was stolen property.

Green County Sheriff's deputies recovered a John Deere farm tractor that had been reported stolen from a locked shed on County DR on May 24. A follow-up investigation led detectives to a property on 32nd Avenue on the northeast side of Monroe, where they recovered a John Deere tractor that had been reported as stolen from property on Wisconsin 11, west of Monroe, on April 24.

On Thursday, Columbia County Sheriff's Department personnel assisted by locating and recovering a John Deere tractor that had been reported stolen from a County KK location on May 21. That tractor had been sold to an individual who also claimed no knowledge that it was stolen.

The estimated value of the three tractors is approximately $54,000.
