DAVIS - Lee F. Meinert, 94, of Davis, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at Manor Court in Freeport.

Born November 12, 1914 in Davis, he was the son of Albert and Sophia (Miller) Meinert. He married Dorothy J. Shippy December 9, 1939 in Davis and she preceded him in death on February 13, 1999.

Lee was a retired Rock City farmer.

He was a member of St. Paul Church of Epleyanna in rural Davis.

Surviving is one daughter, Dixie (Dwane) De Haven of Rock City; one son, Merlin Meinert of Freeport; three granddaughters, Denise (Timothy) Kempel of Lena, Delene (Phil) Young of Oregon, and Danyel (Mark) Mashaw of Rock City; one grandson, Dana (Kathy) De Haven of Rock City; six great-grandsons, Skylar and Kolton Kempel, both of Lena, Bryant Suess of Oregon, Conner Young of Oregon, Drew De Haven of Rock City, and Mark Mashaw of Rock City; 3 great-granddaughters, Paxton Kempel of Lena, Brittney and Chelsey Mashaw, both of Rock City; 3 sisters-in-law, Mildred Meinert of Davis, Iris Shippy and Helen Shippy of Beloit; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters, Leona Lohmeier and Alta Goeke; four brothers, Melvin, Lester, Earl, and Claire Meinert; and one brother in infancy.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July, 7, 2009 at St. Paul Church of Epleyanna in rural Davis with Reverend Dick Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota.

A memorial has been established.
