Hollis A. "Sarge" Maske, long time resident of East Troy, found peace on Monday, August 27, 2012, at the age of 76 years. Hollis was born on November 29, 1935 in Clarno Township, Monroe, WI, the beloved son of Webster and Martha (nee Bast) Maske. He attended elementary school in rural Monroe and was a 1953 graduate of Monroe High School. On October 16, 1954 Hollis was united in marriage to Rosemary E. DeRemer and together they raised four children. Hollis is survived by his loving wife Rosemary; his children, Donna (Russell) Martin, Glenn (JoAnn Dale) Maske, David Maske and Dianna (Ted) Beyer; his grandchildren Randy (Keara) Martin, Denise (David) Meyer, Amanda (Karl Truginic) Neusen, Curtis Maske, Cody (fiancée Lauren Offutt) Mayberry and Jennifer Mayberry; great-grandchildren, Mikayla Martin, Calvin Neusen, Mackenzie Meyer and Alea Martin. Further surviving Hollis are his sister, Karen (Richard) Mau-Boll, in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Hollis was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Harley and his nephew Jamie L. Mau.
Hollis and Rosemary moved to Milwaukee in 1960, after having lived in Tomah and Monroe. For over 40 years, he drove semi and belonged to the Teamsters Local 200. He proudly served his country for over 27 years in the United States Army National Guard. He was a long time member of the American Legion Post #375 in Mukwonago, a lifetime member of AmVets and a member of the SE Rod and Gun Club, teaching hunter safety.
The family will receive friends at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 930 Main St., Mukwonago, on Thursday, August 30 from 3 PM until time of the American Legion Service at 5:30 PM with Funeral Services beginning at 6 PM. Interment will be held on Friday, at Bethel Hawthorne Cemetery in Monroe, WI at noon. Memorials in Hollis's name may be directed to the family.
