Gloria E. Alston, age 74 of Monroe, died on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on June 15, 1935, the daughter of Russell and Elsbeth (Regez) Prien. She was a 1953 graduate of Monroe High School and continued her education at Milwaukee Business College. Gloria and Eugene Reinking were married. He preceded her in death. She later married Paul Alston. Gloria worked at the Book Nook. She was the last cook for the East School and the first cook at Parkside Elementary School. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, and V.F.W. Auxiliary, where she was treasurer for many years. Gloria was an avid bowler, winning many trophies at the Eagles Lanes Bowling League and in area competitions. She was always active with her family, volunteering with the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

She is survived by her children, Diane (Sara) Reinking of Woodbury, Minnesota, David Reinking of Green Bay, Paul (Kristine) Alston of Schofield, Russell Alston of Monroe, Richard Alston of Monroe; grandchildren, Tommy and Robby Alston; brothers, John (Mary Jo) Prien of Monroe, Richard (Candy) Prien of Winslow, IL; step-sister, Ann Goodmiller Kroll of Wisconsin Rapids. She is predeceased by her parents; husbands, and a step-brother, Ray Goodmiller.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. Rev. John Tabaka will be officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials should go to the Ferguson Cancer Center at FHN and the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society of Wisconsin.
