DARLINGTON - Clara Long, age 81 of Darlington, WI, died on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Lafayette County Manor in Darlington with her family by her side. She was born on June 27, 1928 in Darlington Township to Ernest and Alice (Stalder) Krahenbuhl. On August 1, 1950, she married Robert D. Long in Monroe, WI, and they were blessed with two sons: Bobby and Joey Long. Robert and Clara farmed in Willow Springs Township. Clara worked at Lafayette County Manor prior to her retirement. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, its Council of Catholic Women, and of Bates O'Brien Howe Wiegel American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Robert D. Long; a son, Bobby (Ann) Long of Darlington; two grandchildren: Shawn (Britt) Long of Darlington and Joe (Diane) Long of Mt. Horeb; four great-grandchildren: Colton Patrick, Bryce Robert, and Brady James Long and Peyton Elizabeth Ann Broge; two brothers: Ben (Karen) Krahenbuhl of Platteville and Wally (Ruth) Krahenbuhl of Monroe; a sister, Margaret (Joe) Ruppert of Fayette; a grandson-in-law, Tim Broge of Darlington; a sister-in-law, Kay Krahenbuhl of Argyle; many niece, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joey Long; a granddaughter, Angie "Babe" Broge; two brothers: Ernest and John Krahenbuhl; two sisters, Alice Duerst and Bertha Mulcahy Vick.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2009 at HOLY ROSARY CATHOLIC CHURCH in Darlington with Fr. Randy Budnar officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at STEIL CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 206 E. Harriet Street, Darlington, WI, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be preferred in Clara's name.
