The court Thursday sentenced AnDrue E.K. Moen, 19, Monroe, to one year probation after he pleaded no contest to theft.
He faced up to nine months in jail and up to $10,000 in fines for the class A misdemeanor.
The court dismissed one count of forgery, a class H felony. He originally faced more than six years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines.
Court records indicate he took 10 checks from a man, wrote them out to himself and cashed them between Oct. 15 and Nov. 5 in Adams township.
