Brooks J. Indergand, age 86 of Monroe died at his home on Thursday, February 14, 2013. Brooks was born March 8, 1926 in Monroe, the son of the late Albin Indergand Jr. and Elsie Rufer. He married Carol M. Sloat on July 25, 1951 in Waukegan, IL. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2007. Brooks farmed in Jefferson Township for 20 years before moving to Monroe in 1972. He was employed by the City of Monroe Sanitation Department for several years until his retirement.
He is survived by a son, Duane (Annette) Indergand of Jefferson, Georgia; a daughter, Darlene (Steven) Hanson of Fort Mill, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Louis Indergand of Monroe; a sister, Gloria (Charles) Opie of Gratiot; and a sister-in-law, Frieda Indergand of Monroe. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Indergand, and Clifford in infancy.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating.
