Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — For the week of Dec. 15-21, police performed 25 security checks, 36 citizen assists, seven assists of other agencies, seven follow-ups to incidents and nine vehicle registrations; responded to 22 calls for service, four EMS calls, one fire call and 15 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls; and made seven traffic stops. No mental health or detox transports were reported. 

On Sunday, Dec. 15:

●  Suspicious activity of people yelling from a vehicle was reported at 3:31 a.m. in the 800 block of 10th Street. The subjects were later located and all appeared to be fine.

●  Suspicious activity of people with flashlights in the yard was reported at 6:35 p.m. in the 800 block of East 3rd Avenue. Contact was made, and all appeared to be fine. They were moving property.

●  A hit-and-run accident was reported at 6:58 p.m. in the 500 block of 17th Street.

●  A hit-and-run accident was reported at 7:21 p.m. in the 1200 block of 1st Center Avenue.

On Monday, Dec. 16:

●  A Brodhead man, 20 ,was cited for non-registration of an auto at 8:28 a.m. in the 1200 block of 1st Center Avenue.

●  Dogs running at large were reported at 4:59 p.m. in the 900 block of East 3rd Avenue. The dogs were returned to the owner with a verbal warning.

●  A parking complaint of a semi parked at a closed business was reported at 9:26 p.m. in the 2100 block of 1st Center Avenue. The semi was moved.

On Tuesday, Dec. 17:

●  A suspicious condition of possible entry into a residence was reported at 8:15 a.m. in the 600 block of West 3rd Avenue. Contact was made, and the residence had not been entered as reported.

●  Police responded to check welfare at 10:36 a.m. in the 900 block of East 4th Avenue. Contact was not made with the subject.

●  A dog running loose was reported at 5:59 p.m. in the 700 block of 11th Street. The owner was warned.

On Wednesday, Dec. 18:

●  A Monroe woman, 43, was cited for no vehicle insurance at 10:51 p.m. in the 300 block of 1st Street.

On Thursday, Dec. 19:

●  An Orfordville man, 48, was cited for possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia and non-registration of a vehicle at 12:28 a.m. in the 400 block of 23rd Street.

●  A parking complaint of a vehicle that had not been moved was reported at 7:57 a.m. in the 900 block of East 2nd Avenue. Police issued a citation.

●  A parking complaint of a semi that had been parked overnight was reported at 10:04 a.m. in the 1500 block of 17th Street. Police made contact. The driver was forced to park due to being out of hours.

●  A Milton man, 56, was cited for speeding at 2:11 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

●  A Leaf River woman, 63, was cited for speeding at 2:48 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

●  A Browntown woman, 72, was cited for speeding at 3:13 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

●  A phone found in the 1000 block of 21st Street was brought to the police department at 4:07 p.m. It was put in Lost and Found.

On Friday, Dec. 20:

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 7:34 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. Police made contact, and the driver returned to pay for the fuel.

●  Disorderly conduct involving people knocking on doors was reported at 9:04 p.m. in the 1000 block of 21st Street. They were located and warned.

On Saturday, Dec. 21:

●  A Janesville man, 41, was cited for driving with a revoked license and no vehicle insurance at 2:29 a.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

●  A cat bite was reported at 8:18 p.m. in the 1000 block of 21st Street.

On Sunday, Dec. 22:

●  A dog running loose was reported at 11:13 a.m. in the 1000 block of West Exchange Street. The owner was not located, and the dog was taken to Green County Humane Society.

On Monday, Dec. 23:

●  A speeding semi was reported at 1:13 p.m. in the 1200 block of 1st Center Avenue. It was not located.

●  A vehicle passing in a no passing zone was reported at 1:53 p.m. in the 100 block of East 9th Avenue. It was not located.

●  A Brodhead man, 20, was referred to the Green County District Attorney’s Office for a charge of disorderly conduct at 6:44 p.m. in the 300 block of 14th Street following a disturbance.

On Tuesday, Dec. 24:

●  Police cited a vehicle for parking against traffic at 1:12 a.m. in the N300 block of East 2nd Avenue.

●  A Brodhead man, 24, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, intimidation of a victim and endangering safety at 2:02 a.m. in the 400 block of East 5th Avenue following a domestic abuse complaint.

●  Harassing text messages were reported at 2:51 p.m. in the 1000 block of 21st Street.

●  Police responded at 10:37 p.m. to check the welfare of a person seen walking in the 100 block of East 9th Avenue. The person was not located.

On Wednesday, Dec. 25:

●  A Brodhead man, 27, was cited for driving with a revoked license and non-registration of a motor vehicle at 2:58 p.m. in the 1600 block of East 9th Avenue.

●  A suspicious vehicle was reported at 8:19 p.m. in the 200 block of 23rd Street. Contact was made with the driver, and he was fine.

On Thursday, Dec. 26:

●  A Monroe man, 53, was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle at 5:16 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue following a car vs. milk truck accident. No injuries were reported. The Wisconsin State Patrol is continuing the investigation.

On Friday, Dec. 27:

●  A Beloit woman, 57, was cited for speeding at 5:22 p.m. in the 700 block of 1st Street.

●  A Darlington man, 49, was cited for speeding at 5:34 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

●  A Cuba City man, 73, was cited for speeding at 7:35 p.m. in the 700 block of 1st Street.

●  Police checked on a man slumped over the wheel of a vehicle at 9:23 p.m. in the 800 block of Exchange Street. All was fine. He had fallen asleep.

On Saturday, Dec. 28:

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 4:05 p.m. in the 2100 block of 1st Center Avenue.

●  Police responded to check welfare at 7:59 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Exchange Street. The subject was not located.


Albany Police

ALBANY — On Dec. 16:

●  Jason W. Shrier, 44, Brodhead, was cited for speeding (1-10 mph over the limit).

●  Walter S. Zimmerman, 61, Albany, was cited for driving with a revoked license.

On Dec. 22:

●  Miguel A. Hernandez Cordova, 45, Brooklyn, was arrested on a first-offense offense of operating while under the influence, driving without a valid license and no vehicle insurance and possession of open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.

●  Robert W. Lange, 37, Albany, was cited for driving with a suspended license.

On Dec. 29:

●  Dawn A. Seavert, 40, Albany, was cited for encouraging underage drinking, and Reina H. Ganz, 20, and Corey L. Wurtzbacher, 20, both of Albany, was cited for underage drinking.

●  Kevin P. Schauer, 21, Rockford, Illinois, was cited for driving at an unreasonable and imprudent speed, passing in a no passing zone and driving without a valid license.


Darlington Police

DARLINGTON — Mandy Lobato, 37, Monroe, was cited for non-registration of an auto at 7:21 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, following a traffic stop on Main Street.


Monroe Police

MONROE — On Thursday, Dec. 26:

●  Bradley A. Miller, 30, Monroe, was arrested and jailed on a warrant for failure to pay child support after officers responded at 8:55 a.m. to a request to check the welfare of a person at a residence in the 2700 block of 8 1/2 Street.

●  At 11:04 a.m., the Illinois Department of Corrections requested officers locate and arrest David A. Ethridge, 54, Monroe, a parolee listed as absconded from a sentence out of Stephenson County for aggravated reckless driving causing great bodily harm. Ethridge was arrested for a probation violation in the 2200 block of 5th Avenue and jailed pending extradition proceedings.

On Friday, Dec. 27:

●  Brian A. Conkling, 49, Monroe, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and resisting after officers responded to the 200 block of 4th Avenue at 9:42 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, for a 911 call reporting a man breaking windows and damaging the exterior of an apartment building. Conkling’s bond was posted, and he was released to a responsible party pending court.

On Saturday, Dec. 28:

●  Heather N. Farringer, 32, Freeport, was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while intoxicated after officers stopped her for a traffic offense at 1:03 a.m. in the 1700 block of Wis. 69. She was cited and later released to a responsible party pending court.

On Monday, Dec. 30:

●  Ted C. Henderson Jr., 53, Monroe, was arrested on a Wisconsin Department of Corrections probation and parole warrant after officers stopped a vehicle at 3:57 p.m. in the 2500 block of 6th Street. Henderson was a passenger in the vehicle. He was jailed pending court.

●  James W. Rupnow, 72, Monroe, was arrested on four counts of felony bail jumping after officers responded to check welfare in the 2100 block of 16th Avenue at 11:28 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2. He was jailed pending court.

●  Officers stopped a vehicle at Wis. 69 and 21st Street at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, following a hit-and-run accident. Investigation resulted in the arrest of Kyle L. Gilbertson, 18, Argyle, on a charge of violating absolute sobriety. He was also cited for hit-and-run, non-registration of a motor vehicle and driving at an unreasonable and imprudent speed. A probation and parole hold was also placed on Gilbertson. He was jailed.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — Matthew W. Schmid, 39, Albany, was arrested on a Wisconsin Department of Corrections probation hold at 1:44 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at the Green County Probation and Parole Office. He was jailed.
