OREGON - A Brooklyn man was arrested Friday for killing a bicyclist in a hit-and-run in the Town of Oregon.
Kevin D. Meister, 35, was booked into the Dane County Jail on a tentative charge of committing a hit-and-run causing death.
According to the Dane County Sheriff's Department, the crash was reported at about 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Lincoln Road and Hillcrest Lane, Town of Oregon. A dark-colored pickup truck was reported to have struck a westbound bicyclist before leaving the scene.
The cyclist, a 33-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies later found the truck and driver less than 10 miles from the scene.
Causing a fatality in a hit-and-run is a Class D felony and faces a maximum possible sentence of 15 years in prison.
