Breaking: Power lost on Monroe's east side

Update: Power has begun to be restored.


An accident at 2914 13th Street, a delivery truck versus a pole, knocked out power on Monroe's east side, beginning around 9:45 a.m. on Friday, April 15. The driver backed into a pole between Southern Wisconsin (Cenex) Co-Op and Hope Community Church. The meter head on the pole was struck, which caused the outage. Alliant Energy is on scene.

Many area residents from City Hall to 31st Avenue were without power. According to Alliant Energy, nearly 1,100 customers in Monroe are without power.

Calls were being taken by the Monroe Police Department, as well as officers stopped to alert of the incident. At 9:59 a.m., Spectrum emailed affected residents that they hoped the issue would be resolved around 12:30 p.m.
