Activities planned for Health and Wellness Day

MONROE - Health and Wellness Day at the Behring Senior Center will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 18, with special activities planned throughout the day. Behring Senior Center events are available to anyone 55 years of age or older.

Omelets will be made to order from 8 to 10 a.m. with a suggested donation of $4 for ages 60 and over and $8 for those under 60. Call 608-325-3173 to make a reservation. The Lunch Nutrition Program will be at 11 a.m.; lunch reservations must be made before noon May 17 by calling 608-325-3040. The suggested donation for ages 60 and above is $4.25; under 60 is $9.60.

A Wellness Workshop presented by the Aging and Disability Resource Center will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. Hearing screenings and blood pressure checks by Azura Memory Care will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Hearing screenings are by appointment only; call 608-325-3173 to make an appointment.

Cafe Entertainment by Del Heins will be from 9 to 10 a.m., and Roc Ordmann will present "Increase your Health Span" at 10 a.m.

Virtual Dementia Tours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. will simulate what it is like to have dementia and will provide insight to those caring for someone with dementia. Only 10 individuals can participate; call 608-325-3173 to sign up.

Bingo, sponsored by Aster, will be from 1 to 3 p.m. A Balance Yoga demonstration will be at 1:30 p.m. Balance Yoga combines chair yoga and balance exercises. The focus is on breathing and help with flexibility. No floor exercises are done in this class.

A presentation called "The Aging Brain" will be from 2 to 3 p.m.
