Optimist Educator of the Year Awards

DARLINGTON — The Optimist Club of Darlington presented two Educator of the Year awards at the Darlington Community Schools Teacher luncheon on Friday, May 31. 

Steve Fitzsimons was recognized for his 31 years of service as he retires from Darlington Middle School. Also recognized was Tina Schliem, Music teacher, for her dedication to students and all the little extra things she does as a teacher for her students. 

The Optimist Club of Darlington wished Steve the best in his retirement and acknowledged Tina for dedication to her job.

The Optimist Club of Darlington began awarding the Educator of the Year in 1996. The award is meant to recognize individuals within the Darlington educational community that exemplify the Optimist motto — “Friend of Youth”.
