MONROE - Those looking to learn a new artistic skill this winter may look to two upcoming Monroe Theatre Guild art classes.

A-Stitch-in-Winter-Tea-Time, for ages 8 to 10, will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11. In the class, which will be taught by Tracy Bristow, children will spend a morning learning the old-fashioned art of hand-stitching to create winter snowmen or valentine hearts. The cost for the class is $15 for MTG members and $17 for non-members.

Pet Portraits, for ages 14 and up, will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13. Attendees may bring in a photo of their pet or animal and learn drawing skills to create a likeness. Participants will use oil pastels to layer colors and create textures of fur, fins or feathers. The class is for beginners or intermediate level, and the cost is $14 for MTG members and $17 for non-members.
