MONROE - The Monroe Super 8 received the "Spirit of Super 8 Community Service Award" at a ceremony at the chain's international convention held recently in Chicago.

The award recognizes the top property that actively seeks opportunities to make a positive impact within their local community and state. The award was accepted by owners Art and Barbara Bartsch and Richard and Jane Thoman.

The Spirit of Super 8 Community Service Award encourages Super 8 hotel owners and employees to make positive contributions in their areas. Super 8 President John Valletta commended the staff of the Monroe Super 8 for its dedication.

The Super 8 of Monroe is currently adding an indoor pool/spa, business center, fitness center, and a conference room for up to 50 people. Eleven new guest rooms, including two long-stay units, are also being built.

All Super 8 hotels are independently owned and operated through a franchisor agreement with Wyndam Worldwide Inc.
