Blood drive collects more than expected

SOUTH WAYNE - The blood drive at Black Hawk High School in South Wayne on Tuesday, Jan. 17 was deemed successful in spite of the weather. A total of 27 pints were collected with a quota of 20 expected.

Those meeting milestones were: Russell Berg, 21 gallons; Ellen Rogers, 2 gallons; Keith Rosenstiel, 2 gallons; Pamela Larson, 2 gallons; and Jack Hagen, 1 gallon. Other donors were: Elaine Renken, Dave Renken, Alicia Lehman, Tom Welnitz, Barb Saunders, Connie Meier, Eleanor Gille, C. Vernon Gille, Kendra Bunnell, Brad Schliem, Dan Seffrood, Mary Zimmerman, Ed Ernst, Mary McKnight, Mary Moore, Roger Vickers, Kent Meier, Jim Meier, Randy Mau and Taime Paul.

Workers were: Lori Sawdey, Connie Meier and Susan Junk. Donors for the food canteen were: Gratiot Fast Stop, which donated milk; Our Savior's Lutheran Church, which donated sandwiches; Valley View, which donated cheese; and Meier, who donated cookies.
