SOUTH WAYNE - A benefit is being planned for the family of Mathias Lee Koch. The benefit will be from noon until closing on Saturday, Dec. 11, at Marty's Village Inn, South Wayne.

Mathias is the 7-month-old son of Mandy (Liphart) and Dan Koch, of Argyle. He recently lost his battle with a rare form of epilepsy and they are raising money to cover hospital bills.

Mandy is a Black Hawk High School graduate and Dan is a Lena High School graduate.

Lunch will begin at noon and a silent auction will be from noon until 6 p.m. The live auction will begin at 6 p.m. There will also be a 50/50 raffle for three guns, a half beef, a whole hog and a quilt. There will also be a chair massage available.

The couple has two other sons, Samuel, 3, and Emerson, 2. Dan is employed at Honeywell in Freeport and Mandy is an at-home childcare provider. Mandy's parents are Lee and Michelle Liphart and Marne and Steve Bechtolt, South Wayne. Dan is the son of Kenneth and Sharon Koch, Lena.

An account has been set up for Mathias at all Woodford State Bank locations.
