ALBANY - On April 27, four Albany High School students competed in the Potosi Quiz Bowl. Two teams of four competed against each other. Students answered a variety of questions in different areas such as math, social studies, science, and English. There were two 10-minute rounds and a 2-minute lightning round. There were a total of eight teams that competed (Potosi, Platteville, Barneveld, Monticello, Highland, Blackhawk, Juda and Albany).
During the first round, the Albany team went against the Highland team. Albany won the very close round 13-14. In the second round, Albany went up against the Blackhawk team. After being down -2 to 12 after the first round, the Albany team won 14 to 15 to advance to the next round. Albany lost to Potosi in the third round. Albany went up against Barneveld in the fourth round and lost to them.
The team finished third out of eight teams. It was there first quiz bowl appearance.
The Albany team members consisted of juniors Joseph Blumer, Ciarra Kubesh, Jordan Neuenschwander and sophomore Jared Anderson. Lilly Horn was an alternate.
