Softball: Orangeville topples Monroe

Orangeville improved its record to 5-1 in the Monroe Area Fastpitch League with an 8-3 win over Monroe Optimists No. 1. Paisley Bennett, Brandi Trewartha and Kylie Kaiser collected hits in the first inning to stake Monroe to a 3-0 lead.

Orangeville came back and collected two runs in the fourth to break a 3-3 tie and went on to win.

In another Red League game, Stockton scored a run in the seventh to break a 3-3 tie and defeat Monroe Optimists No. 2. Monroe collected only three hits in the game. Jessica Beckman allowed only one earned run, struck out 11 and walked only two in taking the hard-luck loss for Monroe.

In other Red League games, Lena defeated Stillman Valley 3-2. Stillman Valley edged Monroe Optimists No. 1, 4-2. Caitlyn Ambrose collected two hits to lead Monroe's offense and Meghan Roberts struck out 11 in the loss.

In White League action, Erica Haegi struck out nine and collected the win in Monroe No. 4's 11-2 win over Brodhead. In other games Argyle defeated Pecatonica 12-0 and Juda picked up its second straight win 8-3 over Brodhead.
