JUDA - Junior Sara Jordan went 2-for-4 and had two RBI to power the Juda-Albany softball team to an 11-1 five-inning win over Highland on Friday.
Jordan sparked the Panthers with an RBI double in the first inning to give her team a 1-0 lead. The Cardinals committed an error in the second that led to two runs for the Panthers and a 3-1 lead.
Juda-Albany junior Sayde McDermitt went 2-for-3 with a double, and junior Chelsea Burkhalter was 2-for-3 with a triple. Senior Jessica Crull and junior Alexis Goecks each had triples.
"I think with the team we have we can hit the ball all the way through the lineup," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "It's not just the top of the order. When you get the bottom of the order producing too, you get games where you score a lot of runs."
Juda-Albany sophomore Nicki Becker pitched a complete game and gave up just one unearned run on two hits. She struck out seven and walked one.
"Nicki pitched out of a jam in the second inning," Davis said. "She did a phenomenal job of getting a couple of key strikeouts. She moved the ball around well and got ahead of hitters."
Juda-Albany (5-2, 4-0 Six Rivers East) will play in the six-team Monroe tournament today. Juda-Albany will play Monroe at 11 a.m. at Twining Park.
