Argyle senior Brooke Wellnitz surpassed 1,000 career digs in the contest.
“She does a great job in the back row reading the ball and anticipating the play,” coach Jen Butler said.
Wellnitz finished the night with 15 kills, 10 digs, four aces and a block. Haleigh Fish tallied nine kills and four aces. Avari Steiner dished out 32 assists to go with five digs and four aces, and Brynn Harris had 13 digs.
Days earlier on Saturday, Sept. 26, Argyle participated in the Shullsburg Tournament.
The Orioles finished second behind Wisconsin Heights in pool play and advanced to the gold bracket, where they lost to Pecatonica.
In pool play, Argyle defeated Darlington 26-27, 25-15, 15-12 and Ithaca 25-15, 25-9. Pecatonica won the gold bracket match 25-19, 19-25, 15-11.
Wellnitz had 39 kills, 55 digs and four blocks on the day. Steiner finished with 90 assists, six kills, three aces and 44 digs. Harris had four aces and 59 digs. Fish tallied 35 kills, 17 digs and three aces, while Elise Kuebli added 10 kills, 33 digs and seven aces.
Marshall 3, New Glarus 1
The Glarner Knights hit a rhythm over the past few weeks, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Marshall Cardinals Sept. 29 during Homecoming Week, head coach Kayla Zimmerman said. Marshall knocked off New Glarus 21-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-10.
Edgerton 3, Brodhead 0
The Crimson Tide knocked off the Cardinals on Sept. 29, 25-14, 25-17, 25-10.
Brodhead finished with 17 assists as a team, including seven from Page Bauman, five from Natalie Pierce and four by Sadie Woelky. Chesney Walker led the Cardinals with six kills. Kinsley Krumwiede had two blocks and Elise Rear tallied 9 digs.
Darlington 3, Southwestern 0
The Redbirds swept the Wildcats on Sept. 29, 25-21, 25-22, 25-12.
Lilly Ritchie had 13 kills and 16 assists, Chesne Fink and Ali Wineland each finished with two aces, and Raynie Norgard added seven digs and two assists.
Wisconsin Heights 3, Belleville 1
The Wildcats gave the Vanguards all they could handle in a Capitol South match Sept. 29, falling 25-19, 20-25, 25-16, 25-22.
Jocelyn Raven and Hayden Caskey each dished out 17 assists for Belleville, while Alise Alexander finished with 12 kills. Brynn Prochaska tallied eight kills, and Anna Alexander added seven kills. Korynn Potter led the team with 15 digs. Anna Alexander also had four blocks and three aces, while Carolyn Schoenike had three blocks and Morgan Posthuma added three aces.
