CUBA CITY — The WBCA recently announced the 2023 Basketball Academic All-State Award to the outstanding individuals that attain a high level of success in the classroom.

Albany had six boys basketball players make the team.

Academic All-State requires that nominated athletes be varsity players from any grade level and hold a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale). These players will receive a WBCA certificate from their school.

Local recipients are as follows:

● Brayden Bakken, Albany, junior

● Gage Roth, Albany, senior

● Drew Sertle, Albany, junior

● Caleb Smith, Albany, sophomore

● Nate Stokstad, Albany, sophomore

● Kaden Zurfluh, Albany, sophomore

The WBCA, in a continued quest to recognize the outstanding work of the student-athletes around Wisconsin, has modified and expanded the Academic All-State program for 2023.
