Warriors just seven deep
Season up in the air for Black Hawk

SOUTH WAYNE — Black Hawk enters a new era under co-head coaches Jessica Wiegel and Marc Liphart, but it might be another year before their coaching methods and philosophies are seen in action.

As of March 14, the Warriors had just seven players sign up for softball — which is two shy to field a team. Athletic Director Roger Trame has not cancelled the season, though, hoping at least two more girls will join the team before Black Hawk’s first games.

Last year, the Warriors were unable to muster a win, going 0-16. Their only All-Conference selections were 2022 graduate Tatum Baumgartner (catcher) and senior Ellie Edler (outfield.)

If there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for Black Hawk, they graduated just two from last year’s roster and stand to return more than seven players with experience.
