Sugar River’s 47-game conference win streak snapped

BELLEVILLE — After three consecutive shutout wins, Sugar River suffered its first shutout loss of the season to Mount Horeb, 4-0, on Monday, May 8.

Rowan Severson was a thorn in the Raiders’ side, as the junior scored two goals in the first — a mere 20 seconds apart — and assisted the final goal of the game.

Sugar River — who dropped two spots in the Division 3 rankings to No. 10 — then tied with Lakeside Lutheran—ranked No. 6 in Division 4 — 1-1 on Tuesday, May 9. The tie broke the Raiders’ 47-game conference winning streak.

Annika Ziperski put the Raiders on top in the first half with an assist from Jenna Gentilli, but the Warriors knotted the game in the second half, which is how it remained after 80 minutes. Addison Lutz made six saves while allowing one goal for a .857 save percentage.


Monroe lasts 60 minutes

MONROE — The Cheesemakers fell to the Vikings of Stoughton 8-0 on Tuesday, May 9. The contest lasted minutes. Senior Noelle Hanson led the offense with two goals less than a minute apart. She then assisted Kennedy Christensen for a 4-0 lead, from which Monroe couldn’t come back.
