Monroe headed to state

The Dance team qualified for state in Jazz with a second-place finish at the Southern Regional Dance Competition in Watertown on Saturday, Jan. 28. The team includes coach Kathryn Zastrow, Raegun Buhlmann, Jadie Daughenbaugh, Lindsey Davis, Autumn Elmer, Julianna Erdley, Kiera Indergand, Kaegann Paulson, Reaghan Schmelzer, Mikayla Schwartzlow, Emery Smith, Edie Winslow and Kierra Zahradka.

WATERTOWN – The Monroe dance team competed in the Souther Regional Dance Competition in Watertown on Saturday, Jan. 28 with its Jazz routine placing second. As such, the team is headed to state in LaCrosse on Friday, Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 4.

New Berlin Eisenhower placed first, followed by Catholic Memorial in third, Port Washington in fourth and Waterford in fifth.

The Cheesemakers also competed in Hip Hop but did not qualify. Waukesha North won the event, followed by Plymouth in second, Wauwatosa West in third, South Milwaukee in fourth, Waupun in fifth and New Berlin West in sixth.

Individually, Lindsey Davis and Keirra Zahradka performed a duet, placing eighth. Zahradka also danced a solo that qualified her for state. She is the first solo to compete at state for Monroe.
