Monroe 12th at invite; NG 4th in mini-meet

STOUGHTON — The Cheesemakers finished 12th out of 13 teams at the Stoughton Invite April 8.

Connor Allen shot a 93 to lead the Cheesemakers on the par 71 Stoughton Country Club course.

Allen parred the second, fourth, 13th and 16th holes. He birdied the par 5, 524-yard 15th hole.

Bryce Winters shot a 100 for Monroe, hitting back-to-back pars on the seventh and eighth, before shooting a 10 on the par 4 ninth. On the back nine, Winters parred the 15th and 16th holes. Teammate Stewart Sathoff shot a 107 and Dillon Lincicum had a 146 to round out the Cheesemakers scoring.

Verona’s Ryan Mirwald was the medalist, topping teammate Austin Gaby by a stroke with a 76. Verona won the team title with a 330, with Edgerton (341) and McFarland (345) taking second and third.


Capitol Conference Mini Meet

LAKE MILLS — The New Glarus golf team shot a 195 at the second Capitol Conference Mini Meet of the season, taking fourth place.

Matt Hach led the Knights with a 46, while Jacob Krantz carded a 49. Ty Ready and Jared Martinson each carded 50s.

“It was a pretty rough night as far as the scoring, with the high winds really wreaking some havoc on our tee shots,” New Glarus coach Jonathan Goodness said. “The boys struggled, but were able to pull together and get fourth. They are already looking forward to their next meet. I’m looking forward to them righting the ship.”

Columbus won the meet with a 170, followed by Lodi (185) and Cambridge (186).

Monticello’s Peter Gustafson shot a 42.

On the season, Columbus is in first place with 2 points, while Cambridge is second (5), and Lodi and New Glarus tied for third (7). Belleville-Monticello is sixth (11).
