DARLINGTON — The SWAL Conference released its baseball All-Conference teams, and three Darlington players made the list.
Juniors Gage Banfield and Breylin Goebel made First-Team All-Conference. The battery mates led the Redbirds on the bump and at the plate. Goebel led Darlington in most offensive categories, including runs scored (28), hits (37), doubles (10), home runs (5), RBIs (28) walks, (16) stolen bases (19) and batting average (.536). He caught No. 1 pitcher Banfield, who threw 54 2/3 innings.
Banfield struck out a team best 59 batters with a 4.87 ERA. He posted a 4-8 record. At the plate, Banfield tallied 33 hits, 22 RBIs, 10 walks and finished with a .508 batting average.
Raegan Jackson received Honorable Mention accolades. The junior was a solid No. 2 for the Redbird pitching staff, throwing 39 1/3 innings. He struck out 40 batters with a 3.03 ERA. Jackson posted a 3-1 record. At the plate, he tallied 26 hits, six doubles, 23 RBIs, 12 stolen bases and led in hit by pitch (7), finishing with a .366 batting average.
