MONROE — As the fall sports season comes to a close, area conferences and coaches associations have begun releasing all-conference, all-region and all-state teams.
WVCA releases all-state teams
The Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association released its annual all-state teams Nov. 13.
Monticello junior Ellie Gustafson was unanimous all-state in Division 4 after helping guide her team to the state tournament for the first time in program history.
In Division 3, Brodhead juniors Abbie Dix and Alexis Kammerer were honorable mention picks.
WFCA All-Region Teams announced
The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association published its all-region teams for this season on Nov. 9.
Monroe had four players honored. Junior Isaac Bunker was a pick on the offensive line, while junior running back Keatin Sweeney was also an offensive pick. On defense, Wisconsin-commit JT Seagreaves, a senior, was picked at defensive end and junior Tucker Markham made the team at linebacker.
Brodhead-Juda also had four players honored. Senior Colton Buttke made the team at offensive lineman, as did senior running back Gage Boegli. On defense, junior Austin Moe was picked on the line, while Aidyn Vondra, a junior, made the team at defensive back.
Darlington had two selections: Senior Brady Horne at linebacker, and junior Max McGuire on the offensive line. Belleville seniors Colin Derke (DL) and Anthony Nolden (LB) were picked, as was Black Hawk-Warren running back Lucas Milz, a junior.
Six Rivers All-Conference for football
Black Hawk-Warren occupied 10 spots on the annual Six Rivers All-Conference list.
Lucas Milz (RB) and Christian Eaton (OT) were first-team offensive selections, while Milz (LB) and Elijah Shelton (DB) made the first team on defense.
Landen Mahoney (RB), Owen Huschitt (OG/DE) and Antron Evans (LB) were second-team picks. Honorable mention Warriors included Brayden Bohnsack (QB) and Dayton Burmeister (OG).
Pecatonica-Argyle players honored include Kegun Brunker (WR), Levi Paust (K), Alex Gilbertson (LB) and Hunter Enloe (DB) on the second-team, and Tayte Hirsch (DE) on the honorable mention squad.
River Ridge QB Logan Drone was the league’s offensive player of the year, while Ben Werner of Benton-Scales Mound-Shullsburg and David Nies of River Ridge shared DPOY honors. River Ridge’s Andrew Redman was the assistant coach of the year, while head man Wade Winkers was co-coach of the year with Potosi-Cassville’s Mark Siegert.
Capitol awards top boys soccer players
BELLEVILLE — Sugar River senior Ryan Downing was named co-Player of the Year in the Capitol South for his efforts on the pitch this season. He shared the POY award with Lake Mills senior Jailen Ortega.
Downing led the Raiders to the league title, and finished No. 1 in scoring on the team with 16 goals and 13 assists. In all, 10 Sugar River players were named all-conference.
Raiders named to the first-team include Downing and Carter Siegenthaler (10 goals, 5 assists) at midfield, Aiden Hatleberg (18 G, 7 A) at forward, Gavin Boyum (4 G, 4 A) and Ben Lukszys (2 G, 1 A) in defense.
Jack Douma was a second-team defense pick, while Cam Kleiboer was the second-team keeper.
Netting honorable mention nods were Ryan Hagen (8 G, 6 A), Jack Leonard (1 G, 3 A) and Ewan Harper.
