NEW GLARUS - Senior Cullen Brooks recently was selected to play in the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star game July 16 at JustAgame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells.

Brooks will be a member of the Division 4 South WBCA All-Star team. He is one of three area players to garner the honor. The other players who will compete are Evansville's Zach Mielke (Division 3 South) and Barneveld's Kauy Fargo (Division 5 South).

Brooks, who averaged 15.1 points per game, was one of the Glarner Knights top three scorers who helped them return to the sectional semifinal. New Glarus finished the season 24-1 overall and ranked No. 1 in the Division 4 Associated Press state poll. The only loss for the Knights came to Pardeeville in a sectional semifinal 74-68. New Glarus went unbeaten in the regular season and won the Capitol South Conference championship.

Mielke (20.9 ppg, 10 rebounds per game) was the leading scorer and playmaker for the Blue Devils. He helped lead Evansville to a 10-13 overall mark and a fifth-place finish in the Rock Valley Conference with a 9-9 mark.

Fargo was named the Six Rivers East Conferences Player of the Year. Fargo averaged 20 ppg and led the Eagles to a sectional championship game where they lost to Deerfield 50-44 in overtime. Barneveld earned a share of the conference title with Pecatonica with an 11-1 mark in conference. The Eagles rolled to a 70-44 win over the Vikings in a regional championship game.
