Albany falls in state semifinal

GREEN BAY - The Albany Comets suffered their only loss of the season in the WIAA Division 5 state semifinal Friday morning. McDonell Catholic won convincingly 59-20.

The Comets (28-1) were held to just 7-for-42 shooting against the Macks, who have played at state for three straight seasons. This was Albany's first-ever trip to state in girls basketball.

Abby Hollis led all Albany scorers with eight points.

Aubrey Dorn had 16 for McDonell, with Isabel Hartman adding 10. Three other players scored seven or more points. 

The Macks led 35-11 at halftime, and outpaced the Comets in several categories. McDonell was 27-for-52 from the field and had 34 rebounds to Albany's 27. The Macks also won the turnover margin (19-8), assists (18-5) and blocks (5-0).
