Robert W. Brunkow

Robert W. Brunkow, age 87, of Monroe passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Azura Memory Care.  He was born on July 22, 1936 to Frederick and Gladys (Schultz) Brunkow in Monroe. He was a 1954 graduate of Monroe High School; he also completed the UW Madison Agriculture Short Course. Robert married Ruth Ann Priewe September 15, 1956 at Staver’s United Methodist Church; she preceded him in death in 1992. After Ruth Ann passed, he was united in marriage to Janet Moisan on September 20, 1997 at Mt. Olive Lutheran church; she preceded him in death in 2009.

 Robert farmed on the home farm north of Monroe until he retired, raising Registered Holsteins. He was a 4-H Leader, a member of the Green County Holstein Breeders, Tri-State Breeders Association, long time member and Director at Chalet Cheese Co-op, and a member of St. John’s UCC Monroe. He also worked at the Swiss Colony and Family Dollar in his retirement years.

 Robert is survived by his children, Christine (Andrew T.) Schmidt of Clarksville, TN, David (Jan) Brunkow of Cumberland Furnace, TN and Cathy (Jim) Crubaugh of Monroe; grandchildren, Andrew R. (Ashley) Schmidt and Aaron Schmidt of Clarksville; Allison (Alex) Aurit and Joe Crubaugh of Monroe; great-granddaughters, Kinley and Lainey Schmidt of Clarksville; step-sons, Dennis and Jerry Moison; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his In-laws, Lois (Eugene) Upward, Carol (Glen) Balbach, Mary Jo Roderick, and Janet Priewe.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Ruth Ann Brunkow and Janet Brunkow; siblings and their spouses, Dorothy (Herb) Johnson, Walter (Cora) Brunkow and Katherine (Eugene Sr) Updike; son, Daniel Brunkow; and in-laws, Larry and Sharon Priewe, Paul Priewe, and Jim Monson.

 Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home with Pastor Christina Schoenwetter officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

 A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
