Julie Ann Becht-Campbell (JuJu) passed peacefully on Washington Island Tuesday, August 20th at the age of 54.

Julie is survived by her mother Donna Mae Becht (Stoflet), siblings Steven Becht, Kevin (Christina) Becht, Susanne (Andy) Flater, and son Brendon. Also survived by nieces and nephews Mitchel Becht, Ashlyn (Devon) Smith, Calley Flater, and Andrew Flater Jr., and many friends. She is preceded in death by her father Horst Gunter Becht and sister Barbara Jean Becht.

Julie was born at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital on September 12th, 1969, and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1987. She received her degree as a Surgical Technician from MATC in 2001.

Julie was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and received her first heart transplant in 1996 at UW Hospital. 12 years lat-er, that heart began to fail. While waiting for another heart transplant, Julie received an artificial heart “Big Blue” at St. Luke’s Hospital and stayed there for 18 months until she received her second heart transplant in 2009. During her time at St. Luke’s, Julie lost one of her legs due to complications. Julie did not let this define her and continued to live her life to the fullest.

Julie enjoyed spending time with her son Brendon, dog Mogwai, relaxing on the beach on Washington Island, kayaking, gardening, making crafts with her Cricut, collecting angels, and was passionate about helping animals.

Her giggles and infectious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation for Julie will be held at Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home 900 W. Racine St. Jefferson, WI on Thursday, August 29th from 5-7 p.m. and with a prayer service to follow officiated by Rev. Thomas Coyle. Online condolences may be made at www.schneidermichaelis.com
