Frederick (Fred) A. Thommen, age 76 of Monroe passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, January 16th, 2022 at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home.
Fred was born July 5th, 1945 the son of August and Frances (Salle) Thommen. He graduated from Darlington High School, and then went on to serve in the Navy from 1956-1967. On August 20th, 1966 he was united in marriage to Deborah (Debbie) Schindler.
Fred was a tire builder for Kelly Springfield for 32 years, and retired in 1998. Fred was a hard-working man, who loved to fish, bowl, and do woodworking. He was proud to say that he built the house that he and Debbie have lived in for 53 years. His biggest joy of all was his family.
Fred is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Debbie of Monroe; children, Lorie (Dennis) Carroll of Brooklyn Park, MN; grandchildren Elizabeth (Chris) Anderson of Winsted, MN, Tyler Carroll of Maple Grove, MN, Madison Carroll of Brooklyn Park, MN; sister Helen Thommen of Madison, WI; and many friends and family that will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny; and Father and Mother-in-Law, Delbert and Donna Schindler.
A Celebration of Frederick’s Life will be held on Saturday February 26th, 2022 at Nett’s Sports Bar in Monroe from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at shriner111.com.
