WAYNE TOWNSHIP - An Iowan man was transported to an area hospital via MedFlight with serious injuries following an ATV crash on the Cheese County Trail on Friday.
David R. Pate, 64, Iowa City, was driving his ATV westbound on the trail when he lost control and hit a bridge. Pate was ejected from the ATV and was found by emergency responders lying face down in a creek, according to a Lafayette County Sheriff's Department news release.
The 2008 Suzuki ATV sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene. The bridge also sustained severe damage and was repaired by volunteers from the area ATV club.
South Wayne First Response, South Wayne Fire, Green County EMS, Browntown Fire Department and Wisconsin DNR assisted at the scene of the accident.
