JANESVILLE — A Madison man with five convictions of drunken driving on his record was arrested again for the same offense southeast of Brodhead on Tuesday, Jan. 8, according to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael J. Muldoon, 32, was arrested on a sixth-offense felony charge of operating while intoxicated and cited for driving with a revoked license and no vehicle insurance and for possession of THC (marijuana). He was jailed pending an initial court appearance.

His arrest came after Rock County deputies responded at about 11:40 a.m. to a traffic complaint of a car that swerved off the road and got stuck in a yard in the area of County K and Skinner Road. The driver, later identified as Muldoon, attempted to flee before deputies arrived but was located with his disabled vehicle just north of the run-off spot.

Muldoon “displayed signs of intoxication” and underwent field sobriety tests, according to the release from Sheriff Troy Knudson. Muldoon’s blood was drawn for a test of his blood-alcohol concentration, but the results were not yet available the next day.

State court records show Muldoon was sentenced to 24 months in prison and 30 months on extended supervision for his fifth OWI conviction in 2013.
