Walter H. Goecks age 82, of Monroe, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at Graceland Manor. He was born March 9, 1927 the son of Ernest and Katherina "Katie" (Wild) Goecks and graduated from Monroe High School. Walter H. Goecks married Elizabeth 'Betty' Richardson in Ramsgate, England and they traveled the world before settling down in Monroe.
Walter was a World War II Veteran serving in the Navy from March 1944 - February 1946 and then reenlisting in the Airforce from December 1950 - June 1964, after serving his country he worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He was a member of the Cecil Jones V.F.W. Post #2312.
Surviving are his sons; George Goecks of Beloit; Gary Goecks of Florida; Allen Goecks of Marrietta, GA; daughter, Janet (Steve) Toth of NC; and 9 grandchildren . He was predeceased by his Parents; wife, Elizabeth in 2007; son's, Michael in 1958 & Richard in 1972; and brothers; Casey, Freddie, Sam, Herb, Robert, Ernest, and Edwin Goecks.
