Russell B. Wang, age 86, of Wiota, WI, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Community Living Home Options in Monroe, WI. He was born February 28, 1926 on the family home in Woodford, WI, the son of Charles and Bertha (Peterson) Wang. Russell lived and worked the land throughout his childhood. Following his graduation from eighth grade Russell moved to Monroe and began working in the South Wayne and Woodford areas with his twin brother, Roger. In 1950, Russell and Roger moved to Browntown, WI, where they continued their love of farming. He was united in marriage to Alice Johnson on April 11, 1954 at Apple Grove Lutheran Church in rural Argyle, WI. In 1960, they moved to Wiota where they have resided since. Russell drove school bus for 32 years for both Darlington and Black Hawk School Districts.

Russell is survived by his wife: Alice; five children: Alan Wang of Madison, WI, Steven (Kay) Wang of Wiota, Curtis (Becky) Wang of Wiota, Douglas (Lisa) Wang of Elkhorn, WI, and Janice (Gregg) Weaver of Olathe, KS; nine grandchildren: Garrett (Apryll) Wang of Darlington, Jordan Wang of Wiota, Eric and Hailey Wang of Elkhorn, Zachary, Alec, and Carson Weaver of Olathe, Dana (Brandon) Poad of Brooklyn, WI, and Dylan Douglas of Madison; two great-grandchildren: Brinley Poad and Kelsey Douglas ; and his twin brother: Roger Wang of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Rodney; one grandson: Aric Douglas; three brothers: Paul, Charles, and Gerald Wang; and two sisters: Bonnie Wang and Alpha Anderson.

Russell was a member of Wiota Lutheran Church, where he served as past president and council member. He also served on the AMPI Board. His favorite activities were playing baseball and slow pitch softball, which he played up until the age of 68. Russell was a checkerboard champion and was also an avid pool player. He found great joy in watching his children and grandchildren play sports.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Wiota Lutheran Church, 6682 State Road 78 in rural South Wayne, WI, with Rev. Luke S. Smetters officiating. Burial will be in East Wiota Cemetery in rural Wiota. A visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.
