Melvin Dietmeier Jr. age 82 of Orangeville, IL, died on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at the Harbor House in Monroe. Melvin was born June 28, 1928 on a farm West of Orangeville, IL, to Melvin E. and Iva (Hulbert) Dietmeier. He graduated from Winslow High School in 1946. He married Roselyn Wells on September 10, 1949. They farmed in the Orangeville area and Melvin also delivered trucks for Monroe Truck Equipment for the last 20 years.
He was a member of Saint Victor Catholic Church in Monroe. He loved farming, traveling, driving big trucks, big band music, coffee with the guys, and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Roselyn of Orangeville; three sons, Mike (Barb) of Winslow, Mel of Phoenix, AZ, and Tom (Wendy) of Orangeville; a daughter, Sue (Randy Bader) Obert of Monroe; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary Ann; step-mother, Edna; two brothers, Glenn (Bernetta) and Leo in infancy; a sister, Viola (Kenny) Hartwig; and brothers-in-law, Victor Wells and John Schlappi.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Father Michael Moon officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at St. Victor Catholic Church.
